Junior Sailor Katie Shines AM race: Commodore 6 With a brisk breeze blowing northerly down the lake Neil and Nicky in the Wayfarer got away first closely followed by Stephanie Clark in the Laser 4.7. Steve Axford arrived at the line late and then proceeded to scythe his way through to third place. Davis Harker in his recently aquired Finn, had a very good first lap managing to pass six Lasers, however a mistake at the end of the lap saw him lose all his gains as quickly as he made them. Stephanie Clark also lost places as having hit Dam buoy, she had to do a 360 degree penalty turn. Meanwhile John Buckett in his Otter was making ground on the two Toppers of Vicki and John Duncalf and Katie Leveridge sailing in the Laser Radial was giving Simon Veal sailing the full rig Laser a hard time. David Harris in his Otter with crew Stephanie Heasman were also having a tussle with John Savage who was having his first race outing in the Solo fitted with a training sail. During tight racing between Stephanie Clark, Roger Heasman and Derek Farnfield, lack of manoeuvring space saw Roger crash into Dereks Wanderer and having to do a 720 degree penalty turn. Neil and Nicky just managed to hold off Jane Anderson to cross the line first and finish first on handicap. Katie Leveridge sailed really well to finish fourth, with Simon Veal a satisfied sixth. Results: 1st Neil Wallace and Nicky Buckett (Wayfarer) 2nd Jane Anderson (Laser Radial) 3rd Steve Axford (Laser) 4th Katie Leveridge (Laser Radial) 5th John Buckett (Otter) 6th Simon Veal (Laser) 7th Jane Chadney (Laser Radial) 8th Vicki Duncalf (Topper) 9th Stephanie Clark (Laser 4.7) 10th John Duncalf (Topper) 11th David Harker (Finn) 12th Derek Farnfield and John Leveridge (Wanderer) 3th Roger Heasman (Laser Radial) 14th David Harris and Stephanie Heasman (Otter) 15th John Savage (Solo) PM: Pursuit Race 3. With the dinghies all sailing to combined boat and helm handicaps over 65 minutes and with staggered start times, it was a definite case of the hounds trying to catch the hares. John Buckett in the Otter sailed really well and the only boat to overtake him by the end of the allotted time was Jane Anderson's. John Duncalf was also going well in his Topper when disaster struck and he had to pull out of the race with a broken main sheet. Pick of the helms, has to be Katie Leveridge who having started 11 minutes after the first boat finished fourth overall, having managed to hold Neil Wallace and Nicky Buckett at bay. The whole fleet were very close to each other at the finish, however Jane Anderson showed yet again her mastery of her boat and the sailing conditions to claim the win.
