AM: Commodore's Cup 6 A cold north easterly blowing a force 3 to 4 greeted a reduced fleet. John Duncalf as race officer tried to set a good course of combined beats reaches and runs. Unfortunately the wind fickle as ever turned beats to beam reaches and runs to broad reaches! ( Sailing does have some odd language!) Jane Anderson away first followed by Vicki Duncalf, both sailing Toppers with Jane Chadney chasing hard in the Laser Radial and finding the gusts hard work. Mike Ford Adeney Pooler and John Savage formed a following group in the two Solo,s and the Graduate. Jane Anderson managed to fend off Jane Chadney's faster Laser until the second lap and even then managed a brief recovery to first. John Savage also got past Adeney Pooler's Graduate as it was having problems with extra crew ballast. On the third and last lap Mike Ford managed to overtake Vicki Duncalf to finish third behind Jane Chadney and Jane Anderson. Results: 1st Jane Anderson (Topper) 2nd Vicki Duncalf (Topper) 3rd Mike Ford (Solo) 4th Jane Chadney (Laser Radial) 5th John Savage (Solo) 6th Adeney Pooler (Graduate) PM: Cup Race 2 Nine boats started the afternoon race with a slightly reduced but still chilly wind. There was a good start by all the boats with Bob Sampson's fully rigged Laser quickly forging into an early lead with John Savage also starting well to hold a good fourth position going up to Far . After the first lap Bob had a good lead from Paul Whybrow's Solo and Roger Heasman's Streaker with these two having a little private tussle and in the process allowing Jane Chadney sailing more comfortably in the reduced rig Laser 4.7 to play catch up. The Toppers of Jane Anderson and John Duncalf were also having their own private duel with Jane just managing to keep ahead. During the second lap Roger had pulled ahead of Paul and Jane Chadney was snapping at their heels with both Paul and Jane overtaking Roger at the end of the lap after sloppy buoy rounding. The next batch of boats with Mike Ford leading John Savage in the Solos and Adeney in the Graduate were all doing very well in a fresh breeze until Adeney capsized at Dam. Not to be outdone John Duncalf hooked his mainsheet on Dam Green buoy whilst rounding just before the finish line. This resultant capsize followed by a penalty turn and made the Dam buoy rogue of the day! Results: 1st Bob Sampson (Laser) 2nd Jane Chadney (Laser 4.7) 3rd Paul Whybrow (Solo) 4th Roger Heasman (Streaker) 5th Jane Anderson (Topper) 6th Mike Ford (Solo) 7th John Duncalf (Topper) 8th John Savage (Solo) 9th Adeney Pooler (Graduate)
