DECEMBER

Christmas Dinner and Trophy Presentation

On Sunday 16th December members of the Upper Tamar Lake Sailing Club attended the Brendon Arms, Bude, for their annual Christmas Dinner and Cup Presentation. They were grateful to the staff of the Brendon for looking after them so cheerfully and providing a lovely meal in festive surroundings.

Adam Hilton (Commodore) and John Dabbs (Vice Commodore) presented the cups to the worthy winners and encouraged everyone to come along and join the Club at Upper Tamar Lake on Boxing Day for a coffee and mince pie and a chance to get the dinghies on the water and racing if the weather is anywhere near suitable for taking to the water.

The Club are looking forward to sailing again next spring; they’ll be agreeing their race programme soon.

The final results and awarded cups can be seen here

The Venue Bude

This was our first social event of the year. It was a very sociable event as it gave people time to chat with other members when not called on to chuck a couple of balls down the lane.

John Dabbs had organised things in advance. We simply had to pay when we turned up and the lanes and score boards were ready and waiting for us to start playing.

John had divided us up into two teams with partners or family members on opposing sides. We played 2 rounds of 10 lanes (apologies to those that know the correct terms).

The left-hand team won the first round and the right-hand team won the second. John said he was going to give the 2 round team prize to the right hand team anyway!

Roger and Suree turned out to be the better players and duly won the Men’s and Women’s prizes.

A great time was had by all. Many thanks to John for organising this event.
